Tournament Report

I went to an 1875 point 40k tournament on saturday with my Mechanicus War Convocation. All games were Maelstrom with points for winning which were then modified by how much you killed/lost during the game. I won with 3 victories, 2 of which were tables as well. (images from Black Dragon Miniatures Facebook page).

My first game was against Seb and his Grey Knights / Imperial Knight. This game was perfect for me, not so much for Seb. With Grey Knights being the small, elite army and Mechanicus hitting like a crap tonne of bricks it was only 3 turns before he took the last model off.

Servitors were not yet deployed when this was taken.

Game 2 was against Dave, manager of Games Workshop Coventry. This was the one I didn't table, but wasn't far off. The scenario was against Dave from the off, you get to draw 1 objective for each objective you are holding at the beginning of your turn and Dave had everything start in reserve. Every time he got onto an objective I just poured fire onto it until either he was off of it or simply gone. It also helped me that Dave had not played Mechanicus before so when I had things like the Taser Assassins going in at strength stupid can drowning things in wounds/glances it took him by surprise. But he deserves it when he tries pulling "Force gives all my guys instant death in combat", my arse does it!!

Final round was against Phil and his ... list. He had a Teseract Vault, 2 Monoliths and a Lord of Skulls. Not sure why he didn't bring his usual Heretics and Traitors list but that's what he brought. He drove forwards and then went down to my ridiculous amount of firepower. Apart from the Skulldozer, he got tasered back into the warp (whoop go Canticles for 9 taser dudes!!!). My Knight then kicked the last monolith off of the table.

Turn 3....

Well one of my opponents might not have had fun but everyone else seemed too. It was a good event with a decent variety in armies and play styles. I think my MVP would easily have been the Taser Assassins, they took out a Venerable Dreadnought, Paladins, Centurions, a Librarian, some TH/SS Terminators AND a Skulldozer!!

Also all those people who say that the Cognis relic for the Cult Mechanicus is the only one to take is just plain stupid. The Skryerskull is easily much better with the ability to just go "tank hunters against that with EVERYONE" is so much better than "my plasma hits your flyer on a 5 instead of just 6's". I think I'll be taking it every time.

Fight for Desperation: Game 1

Our local GW is currently running a campaign called the Fight for Desperation. Pretty simple and they are using a mix of Eternal War, Maelstrom of War and Altar of War missions as well so there is a lot of variety in the scenarios. Also we must stick with our main codex throughout the whole thing, so I chose Cult Mechanicus as I just love the Tech Priest Dominus model and it's probably my best painted model to date.

The blurry picture doesn't do him justice.

My first campaign game was again Adam and his Imperial Fists. I got to choose the scenario so chose a Tau one from the Alter of War book. The idea behind the scenario is that they are testing out a new piece of tech so I thought it'd be ideal for the Mechanicus. I got to choose a unit (in this case my assassins) and they roll on the Tau Tech Toy Table for an upgrade, in this case a single ranged weapon in the unit gains Large Blast. Holy shit the 5 shot burst pistol just got stupid! After that it was just one fuck up after another to the point where we both did stupid stuff because why not. Adam thunderfired his own drop pod because it couldn't do anything and was annoying him, my Techpriest hugged Lysander and the Servitors zapped him and to top it off my last model, a lone Skitarii Ranger, attempted to jump off the roof of a building to commit suicide and survived to be gunned down by a Heavy Bolter. So yeah I got tabled but I learnt some things that'll be useful in the future. Don't keep rolling 1's to wound is probably a good place to start.

The Mechanicus Prepare for War

One of the local games shops is having a tournament in a little over a months time using the Throne of Skulls format (so 1875 points, bound or unbound, tactical objectives). I'll be attending with the Mechanicus. As I've decided that if I get the rest of the Skitarii painted in time I'll buy on of those big War Cohort bundles I'll have plenty of units to choose from. I'll then either take a War Convocation (the white dwarf formation) or a War Cohort formation (the bundle one) depending on what the bundle one does/needs. For now though I'll plan using the War Convocation as I have the rules for that. The initial list I've come up with is this:

Skitarii Battle Maniple (1030)

10 Vanguard - 100
- 3x Plasma Calvier
- Conversion Field
- Phospher Blaster
- Power Sword
- Digital Weapons
- Data Tether
- Pater Radium

10 Rangers - 120
- 3x Arc Rifles
- Arc Pistol
- Arc Maul
- Conversion Field
- Digital Weapons
- Omnispex
- The Skull of Elder Nikola

6 Ruststalkers - 190
- Conversion Field
- Data Spike
- Omniscient Mask
- Digital Weapons

5 Infiltrators - 185
- Flechette Blaster and Taser Goads
- Infoslave Skull
- Conversion Field
- Digital Weapons
- The Phase Taser

3 Ironstriders - 165
- 3x Lascannons

3x Dunecrawlers - 270
- 1x Icarus Array
- 2x Neutron Lasers
- 3x Cognis Stubbers
- 2x Smoke Launchers
- 3x Mindscanner Probes
- 3x Cognis Manipulators

Imperial Knight Oathsworn Detachment (425)

Knight Crusader - 425
- Rapid Fire Battle Cannon
- Stormspear Rocket Pod

Cult Mechanicus Battle Congregation (420)

Tech Priest Dominus - 105
- Eradication Ray
- Infoslave Skull
- Digital Weapons
- Conversion Field
- Raiment of the Technomartyr

3 Kataphron Destroyers - 165
- 3x Heavy Grav Cannon
- 3x Cognis Flamers

3 Kataphron Breachers - 150
- 3x Torsion Cannons
- 3x Hydraulic Claws

All I have done here is take the basics that I want/need and then fill in the gaps. All wargear, weapons and relics are free thank to the formation so I am only paying for the base cost of the models (hence the Dunecrawlers having ALL OF THE TOYS!!). I might not have much in the way of Strength D (as in, none at all) but I do have a lot of high strength weaponry at both long and close range to deal with anything big and more than enough guns and blasts to knock hordes down to size. I've also got the boost from Imperatives and Canticles so I can dominate both the shooting and assault phases with ease. Most importantly though, it's going to look totally bad ass all together on the table!!

The only problem I'm going to have is my complete and total lack of any psychic defence. I'm not going to be stopping any psychic powers at all, but if they're dead they can't cast powers :P

The Omnissiah's Wrath

Today the legions of the Omnissiah went into battle against the foul traitors of Khorne and their Daemonic allies. Due to the scale of the daemonic incursion a mighty War Convocation was mustered for battle.

The followers of Khorne prepare for battle
The Chaos had 2 units of Raptors, a unit of Warp Talons, a unit of Cultists, 2 units of Bloodletters, a unit of Possessed, a Helldrake, a Chaos Lord and a Bloodthirster with the S:D axe taken from the Daemonkin book.

My Mechanicus was built using the War Convocation formation from White Dwarf. The Skitarii consisted of 10 Rangers, 10 Vanguard, 5 Ruststalkers, 5 Infiltrators, an Ironstrider and a Dunecrawler. The Cult Mechanicus consisted of 1 unit of Kataphron Breachers, 1 unit of Destroyers and lead by a Tech Priest Dominus with the army backed up by a Knight Errant.

The Mechanicus stand ready
Playing with tactical objectives, we got the mission where you get a number of objectives equal to the turn number (not that it mattered in the end).

Turn 1 - Khorne: Khorne moved forwards. Then ran forwards.
Turn 1 - Mechanicus: Moved up with most units. Activated the +3 WS Doctrina for the Skitarii and then Canticle for +3 Strength. Despite my hindered shooting from the Doctrina I still managed to put some hurt into many of the chaos units. My assassins then charged into the Bloodthirster and annihilated it completely before it could even think about retaliating. Well the ones with the mini-uzi's and cattle prods did at least. The butter knives and DA CLLAAAAAWWWW's failed the charge. Still didn't stop me just 1 shotting the only threat to my Knight though :)

After that things kept going down hill for the Chaos. Yes 2 additional Bloodthirsters were able to be summoned but at the end of the game all that was left was a Helldrake on a single hull point that wasn't even on the table at this point.

As for how the Mechanicus played the 3 smaller forces work fantastically together, especially in the formation which makes them both affordable (points wise) and allows rules to cross over. The combination of Canticles and Imperatives is also extremely brutal, especially in combat. When the tasers went into that Bloodthirster they went in at WS7 and S9 with 4 attacks each (5 on the sarge). That's just crazy! I can't wait for more games using Skitarii and Cult together, although I doubt I'll get to use this formation for a while as I still need a Knight of my own as well as most of the Skitarii units (about 2/3 of the units I used were borrowed from my local store manager).

Cult Mechanicus Thoughts - Initial Game(s)

So the Cult Mechanicus are almost here. I've managed to use the White Dwarf rules to give the new battle Servitors a go and the Tech Priest Dominus as well and I'm pretty impressed.

The first game was 1k points and I allied them into my Skitarii against a BAngles Archangels Strike Force (exterminatus supplement), consisting of a level 2 libby in termie armour, 2x 5 man termie squads with claws and 1x 10 man unit with Hammers and Shields. Librarian got invisibility, no prizes for guessing which unit he went in.

I had 5 Rangers with 2x Arquebus, 5 more Rangers with Arc weapons, 10 Vanguard with 2 plasma, a Dunecrawler, Tech Priest Dominus and 1x unit of 3 Kataphron Destroyers (the heavy weapons one) as well as a bunch of Skitarii relics I didn't particularly want to fill in the points a bit.

The Mission: Relic, 4x4 table.

As soon as I knew that Libby got invisibility I knew where this game was going. That power is ridiculous (although reading the rules I did play this wrong with my Cognis weapons) and every time I play someone they seem to get this one god damn power. I decided to have the Servitors take on one unit of Claws, the Dunecrawler the other with the Sniper Squad giving some help. I then have the Vanguard take on the termies with the other guys giving support after finishing off the smaller units. By the end of the game all he had left were 3 Hammer Termies and that was it. I have the Dominus, 1 Servitor and the Snipers but most importantly he had the Relic. He said he enjoyed the game and that it was a fairly balanced list (mine). He changed his mind next game.

ROUND 2! FIGHT!!

Upped to 1500 for this one. I took the same list as before but added 10 Scions with 2x Hot Shot Vollyguns, a Lord Commissar with Carapace and Plasma Pistol, a Vindicare and a Level 2 Librarian with Biomancy and Force Thunder Hammer (clan raukaan relic). Considering the Librarian, Commissar and Vindicare did the sum total of fuck all over the course of the whole game the list suddenly became "broken beyond repair".

This time he took the same force org chart but had the 2x 5 man termie units, no 10 man unit, 2 librarians and Mephiston with several Sternguard units.

The Mission: Crusade (4 objectives), 6x4 table, Dawn of War deployment.

So what was the major change since the last game that made my list so broken? Was it the Vindicare and his super special ammo? Can't have been. He fired one shot that failed to wound and then died. Perhaps it was the Librarian and his Psychic powers? Nope. He never successfully cast a power nor could he be arsed to deny them. Must have been the Scions then. Wrong again they only took out half a Sternguard unit all game. Would you like to know what made my list so broken? My opponent did not get invisibility this time round. I then opened up with some serious first and second turn vollys of fire and killed off most of his units through sheer weight of fire. I then began picking off everything 1 at a time, slowly securing objectives as I went. Mephiston didn't stand much of a chance either. He was in a unit of 5 Claw termies that walked up the middle of the board only to be blasted by Vanguard and Kataphrons. Needless to say I felt a bit better after that game (had a bad day at work) but my opponent wasn't too happy prompting him to leave without helping to pack up (something that has really pissed me off recently).

Back on topic though. The new units actually performed really well. The plasma servitor let the side down a bit (he likes to lick the barrel of his gun) (I built the unit as 2x Grav 1x Plasma) but the other 2 did amazing no matter the target and the Dominus is just a marine killing, difficult to shift dick head, and that's without the relics/canticles!

Can't wait to use some more of these units, the battle robots in particular. Will get to try some stuff out tomorrow when the Mechanicus War Convocation goes into battle against the foul traitors of Khorne and their daemonic allies.

Trek Updates

So for my first post back I thought I'd start things off with some news on the Trek front. The Collective scenario set is now over. In the final tournament I came 2nd for the individual tournament but 1st over the set of 3. This snagged me the Assimiltion Target Prime (assimilated galaxy class). However as I don't play Borg or Mirror Universe I traded it with a Borg player for the Stargazer, a nifty little ship and Picards first command. Not a bad little ship for the points and some nice upgrades too including the Picard Maneuver. I also picked up the new USS Pegasus today, Rikers first ship out of the academy. It's not the best ship, fairly weak, no stopping power, no weapon upgrades and can't move faster than 3. But it is very maneuverable, cheap (20 points for the named) and being a science vessel can take a fair few tech upgrades. Speaking of Tech it comes with some Specialized Shields, a Phased Cloaking Device and (at last) an Escape Pod! For 1 point and a Tech slot you can save your captain and 2 crew members from death by pinging them out at the last second. Hopefully they'll be picked up before they're blown up.

Long Time, No Post

Been a while since I last made a post, but that's thanks to me finally getting a job. Now I've actually got to get up in the morning! I'm still getting used to my new routine and getting my training done but now I've got less time for the hobby but I'll have more money to spend on it. Already got some big plans. There may be a Stormblade sized treat for me in the near future :)

Salute 2015

Ah Salute. The one event I always go to. Always a good time and well worth the money to go. Unfortunately no pics from me this year but there were some things I wanted to talk about.

Firstly the queue to get in was just stupid this year. The way it was laid out was like someone was doing really well at Snake but about to fuck up. Then all of a sudden everyone just started moving towards the entrance. I don't know if it was planned or not but fuck it we got in there quicker :P

The boards as always were amazing. Beasts of War did a Hoth board with a huge Millennium Falcon and some very familiar looking models on it.

There were some guys that had a Battlestar Galactica board set up using the Full Thrust rules. The big ships were Revel kits and the the fighters custom 3D printed. Looked fantastic.

A team did a Resistance VS Scourge table for Dropzone Commander with underground bases that were just chock full of detail while Hawk Wargames themselves finished the big ship they started last year.

Spartan Games had both a Demo(ish) table and a display table for Halo: Fleet Battles. The reason for the "ish" after demo was because the guys demoing it didn't quite know what they were doing. 1 minute the Covenant are next to impossible to kill, the next their ships are made from wet paper bags. The models however do look incredibly pretty, for the both ships and the ground units.

I managed to get the big new GW figure case at 1/3 off (so only £50, thank you discount traders), the TOS era Enterprise, an ENT era Enterprise and a second USS Defiant as well as this bad boy:

That's right. I managed to get a hold of Deep Space 9 from the Dominion War OP Tournament. Only £40 as well (looking at about £100 on ebay). Considering it's a space station it's not actually as tough as I thought it would be at only 8 hull, 8 shields but it doesn't need to reload torpedoes so that's pretty good and it's only 44 points. Can't wait to put this thing on the table top tomorrow night against Owen's Dominion fleet. Will have to get pics for that as it's going to be a good one!! Especially as he doesn't know I've got this!

Skitarii List Idea and Second Model

Lets get the guy out the way first. I decided the next model I wanted to do was one of the Transuranic Arquebus's as it's big and pretty and full of details. Here he is

They might be taking ages but I am enjoying painting these guys up. Not sure how I'm going to do the Dunecrawler though. In pieces is probably the best way I think.

Now onto the list. It started as I wanted to know what I would actually take in a Battle Maniple Formation, and ended up as a list that I actually want to use. Depending on a reply from Forge World though there may be another Ironstrider going in there. I went for 1875 as that seems to be the standard these days.

Skitarii Battle Maniple Formation

10 Vanguard (240)
- Data Tether
- 3x Plasma Caliver
- Phosphor Blast Pistol
- Power Sword
- Conversion Field
- Pater Radium

10 Rangers (215)
- Omnispex
- 3x Arc Rifles
- Arc Pistol
- Arc Maul
- Conversion Field

5 Ruststalkers (190)
- Conversion Field
- Omniscient Mask

5 Infiltrators (205)
- Conversion Field
- Infoslave Skull

3x Ironstriders (165)

3x Dunecrawlers (355)
- 2x Neutron Laser
- Icarus Array

Other

Stormblade (505)
- 1x Set of Sponsons

You might be set there thinking "the Skitarii can't take Lords of War" and you are correct. What I can do though is go unbound and still take formations. So while the list is technically unbound I don't actually suffer from any of the negatives and still get that super shiny super heavy I'm saving up for. I mean, why can't the guys the build, own and maintain Baneblade chassis vehicles take them normally? As I mentioned before if Forge World say the Stormblades rules in their download page is the most up to date version I use the list above, if they say the Imperial Armour 1 Second Ed has the most current rules then it's 55 points cheaper which means another Ironstrider fits in perfectly.

Friday 10 April 2015

Warlord of the Omnissiah

Not only is this guy my Vanguard Alpha he is also my Warlord and probably my best painted model to date. Now I've got the problem of keeping that up through the rest of the army but I wanted an army that looked good and pushed my painting so here is that start.

Unfortunately I can't do the rest of the Vanguard until the local GW manager can give me a lesson in making stuff glow. I want their guns that shoot irradiated bullets to glow in the classic vat-of-toxic-waste green. In the mean time though I've got plenty of Rangers to keep me busy.

Tournament Results

The first tournament at the local GW was overall a success. There were a couple of things that needed changing but the plan for this one was always to use it as a test to see what worked and what didn't. The main thing that everyone agreed should change is that everyone should play the same scenario as your Victory Points over the whole event decided position (with +5 points for a win) but each table rolled separately for their game. The downside to this was that some scenarios get objective cards out much quicker than others meaning those ones will probably score higher over all so that'll be changed for the next one.

I took the list that I put up the other day with the Melta Bomb instead of the relic.

GAME 1 - VS Adam's Unbound Power Armour

For his list Adam just took what he liked from pretty much every marine book which made it difficult keeping track of what was what at times. My Skitarii however took the challenge and scored a ton of tactical objectives while systematically taking out his units 1 by 1. The force of 10 rangers jumping out of a Chimera with BS 7 completely blew away most of a Death Company unit and the combat just cleaned them up thanks to the Pater Radium on my Warlord.

End of turn 1

GAME 2 - VS Nick's Speedy WWAAAAAGGGHH

Nick brought an interesting list with him. The Forge World character on a bike, a load of biker boyz, 3 planes (2 dakka jets and a bomber I believe) and a buggy for points filling. While his Orks didn't manage to score many objectives what they did do was "krump dem shiny 'umies a gud 'un". Although a lot of my stuff died I ended up scoring so my points from objectives that I ended up in the lead from this game alone.

GAME 3 - VS Glen's Blood Angels Elite

Glen took Mephiston, 9 TH/SS Termies with a flag, a Storm Eagle and a Skyshield with Ready for Take Off. I didn't find out until afterwards though that Glen had been told the day before NOT to include any Legacies of Glory as he does not have a copy of the rules for them ... so he went and put Legacy of Thall (?) on his Storm Eagle to increase it's Jink save to 3+ which saved it no end of times throughout the day and cost me the game against him. Not that I'm bitter about it or anything :)

GAME 4 - VS Alex's Grey Knights

I thought this one was going to be close, but the Dice/Card Gods had other ideas. Nothing went right. My Chimera immobilized itself when it was about to claim 4 points, the Executioner blew itself up on it's first shot and only 3 of the cards I drew could actually be claimed once the Chimeras had gone. Invisible Grey Knights jumping out of a Land Raider don't help things much either.

Final Positions were:

1st - Alex (Grey Knights)
2nd - Adam (Power Armour)
3rd - Myself (Skitarii/Guard)
Joint 4th - Nick (Orks), Glen (Blood Angels)
6th - Kyle (Chaos Marines)

Like I said a couple of things need changing for the next one but over all it was a good day. Look forward to the next one.

Wednesday 8 April 2015

Ready for War

Tomorrow my local GW is having a small tournament. 1000 points using tactical objectives with a total of 6 players. I figured this would be a good time to test out the Skitarii against a variety of opponents so they're my main force, backed up by the might of the Imperial Guard (or at least stealing their transports and using them as a meat shield).

Skitarii Primary Detachment (whatever the Skitarii special detachment will be called)

10 Vanguard - 215
- 2x Plasma Caliver
- Enhanced Data Tether
- Power Sword
- Phospher Pistol
- Conversion Field
- Pater Radium

5 Rangers - 120
- 2x Transuranic Arquebus
- Refractor Field

5 Rangers - 135
- 2x Arc Rifle
- Enhanced Data Tether
- Arc Pistol
- Arc Maul
- Refractor Field

Astra Militarum Allied Detachment

Company Command Squad - 125
- Chimera
   - Hull Heavy Flamer

Techpriest Enginseer - 40
Techpriest Enginseer - 40

Veteran Squad - 125
- Chimera
   - Hull Heavy Flamer

Leman Russ Executioner - 185
- Plasma Cannon Sponsons
- Lascannon

Those who are observant will notice I'm currently 5 points down. This is for when I turn up and find out if we're doing mysterious objectives or not. If we are I'll take the Divinator relic which lets me re-roll the result of mysterious objectives, if not a Techpriest gets a Melta Bomb.

The Archmagos is just an Enginseer for this, but I figured that people will see the big scary guy and try to kill him even though it's just a 40 point Enginseer. If asked by the Manager I will take away the Abyant and I wont lie when people ask what he is but I know some people going will aim straight for him.

The Cultists are my Tech Plebs in 30k so they'll be my Pleb Guard in 40k. They're there to buy my Skitarii some transports and get them access to the Executioner for some heavy fire power. This then leaves them to be meat shields/objective holders.

I'll try and get some pictures up as we go along but with the timed games/us getting carried away it might be difficult.

Tuesday 7 April 2015

Black Dragon of the Apocalypse

Sunday we have a roughly 7000 points of Chaos Traitors (IA 13)/Daemonkin/Dark Angels (fallen) VS 7000 points of Skitarii/Imperial Guard/Blood Angels over at Black Dragon Miniatures in Hinckley on a really nice 6'x12' board. Besides from a couple of people showing up late and expecting to join in (I mean seriously, store opens at 10 closes at 4 and game starts at 10:30. What on earth makes you think you can turn up at 3:20 and join in??) it was a good game. The Skitarii performed well despite their low numbers and incomplete rules. They almost took out a Blood Thirster and a Lord of Skulls. The Artillery and Cadians wreaked havoc upon Mutant Rabble and Fallen Angels alike and the valiant Blood Angels sowed destruction in the traitors deployment zone. It was a glorious battle. Stuff died, stuff survived, odds were defied and ... something else ending in ied just to make it rhyme. The Imperium unfortunately lost but should another turn have happened who knows what might have happened. Both the Lord of Skulls and Bloodthirster were almost gone as were the last of the Fallen but equally the Blood Angels weren't doing so well and the Skitarii flank was on the verge of being overrun by Possessed and Cultists even with airborne Tempestus reinforcements on the way.

Skitarii - The Kit and Gameplay Thoughts

To build they are simply awesome. The only issues are that when building the bodies they connect to the sprue where the arms go in and that area is a pain in the arse to clean up so the arms fit together, and where the pipes/cables for the Data Tether and Arc Rifles don't quite line up with the back packs. Other than that it's a brilliant kit and I can't wait to get some more. Also planning on using the spares to convert Techmarines/Techpriests/Inquisitors as you get LOADS left over.

In gameplay terms though I'm not going to run them on their own. I'll be throwing in an Inquisitorial detachment with a few squads of just Servitors with heavy weapons (I know they'll mindlock but they'll be on objectives so who cares). Maybe some Monkeys as well. I'll then buy them Transports and move the Skitarii into them on turn 1. This gives my Skitarii some cover as they move up, some extra firepower and keeps me bound. The Inquisitor in question though will either be my Abeyant Magos but use Krazypants rules (NUKE EVERYONE!!) or an Ordo Malleus with Power Fist (servo arm), Hellrilfe and Power Armour should make a decent proxy Techpriest even if he's not very good at fixing things. Maybe throw one of the Relics in there for added tactical buffs. He can then either go with the Rangers and snipe things or the Vanguard and punch things.

I would like to get some Dragoons for back up. They're quick enough to reach the backfield and strong enough to take on lighter tanks. Then I'll get some Dunecrawlers for heavier firepower as they look like they'll be the equivalent of a Predator or Leman Russ. The assassins will probably go in somewhere as they seem like fun units but whether I get 2 units or 1 I'm not sure about.

Tuesday 31 March 2015

The Battle(s) of Wolf 359

Today was a good day to die, at least for my Miranda class. Scenario was to do more damage to the Borg than your opponent, my list was:

Miranda Class
- Pleb Captain

USS Enterprise - A
- Picard (CS 8)
- Quantum Torpedoes

Constitution Refit
- Mr Spock
- Quantum Torpedoes
- Federation Fleet Captain

K'Tinga Class
- K'Nera
- Qapla'
- Kunivas

As you can see my random ship was once again not the USS Yeager, but the Klingon ship IKS B'Moth. To be fair it isn't a bad little ship for the points, it's just really slow. However I did manage to trade the Vorta Vor I got last time for a Federation Attack Fighter Squadron.

The basic tactic was to fly the Constitutions up and hover around range 3 firing off Quantum Torpedoes whilst the K'Tinga and Miranda ram into it and keep firing until they die. This worked up until the last game.

ROUND 1 - Federation (myself) VS Federation (Andy)

I faced off against Andy in the second round last time, this time round though he was my first opponent. Having played the scenario a few times for practice I had the upper hand, Andys downfall this game was that he was too scared of the Borg to get close enough to damage letting me get a good few rounds of shooting in first. Final score 46 - 22.

ROUND 2 - Federation (myself) VS Federation (Ashton)

This was Ashtons 6th maybe 7th game of Attack Wing. We'd played the day before so he could get used to the scenario and he narrowly beat me. Today things were different and I managed to win 60 - 54

ROUND 3 - Federation (myself) VS Borg/Federation (Jason)

The one person I did not want to face, especially with the stupidly powerful Officer Exchange Program resource. Yes lets make it legal to put Picard and Spock on Borg ships AND make them cheaper than putting them on Federation ships, why not? I ended up losing this one 70 - 80 thanks to the second picture stopping my big guns from firing for a turn.

Final position was 4th place. It was a good event and the winner has said he'll trade me a Jem Hadar ship for the prize one if I want it. It might not be the best of ships but I might take him up on that. Final scenario is the Battle of Sector 001, kill a Cube and then a Sphere. More points for the less ships you loose and the more damage the Borg take the harder they become to kill.
